History Alive! Presentation of Pearl S. Buck

The African American Heritage Family Tree Museum is pleased to host a
History Alive! presentation of Pearl S. Buck. Pearl Buck was born in West Virginia,
but she grew up in China and then transitioned back to America as an adult. She
was a gifted writer who authored several books and received the Pulitzer Prize for
The Good Earth and was the first female to receive a Nobel Prize for Literature.
She was a humanitarian and social activist who openly supported African
American civil rights activities at a time when it was unpopular to do so. Pearl
Buck will be portrayed by veteran presenter, actress, and scholar Karen Vuranch.
The presentation will take place at the African American Heritage Family Tree
Museum located at 127 Log Town Road, Ansted, West Virginia at 3:00 p.m. on
Sunday September 8, 2024. Current exhibits on display in the museum include:
Poet & Playwright Norman Jordan; Prominent African Americans in Colonial
America; and Ms. Findley’s Hat Collection. The History Alive presentation is
sponsored by the West Virginia Humanities Council and the African American
Heritage Family Tree Museum; it is free and open to the public. After the
presentation exhibits may be viewed on Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. -4:00 p.m.
